A few quotes..

Yes these are my own,

"intelligence is not a measure of age but a measure of understanding"

"tolerance is not love, but acknowledgment can be"

"Sins of the flesh are only as deep as the flesh if one is deeper then the flesh then the offenses of this world mean nothing"

"The disease which is humanity is simply the belief that we are anything more then carbon and water walking around on a location which will eventually self destruct taking every trace of us with it"

Art That Inspires Art

These are all pieces of art I found recently, some photos, some movies some paintings, all of which gave rise to something inside that tugged at the artist in me and I hope it can do the same for you, just think of it as your daily inspiration :)...

Credit in order of appearance, make sure to check out their other art.

I cant remember where I found this photo of James Dean but ive never been able to find it again, just everything about it tells a story of the art James portrayed.
A photo of Francis Bacon in his studio, one of my favorite painters -http://www.francis-bacon.com/
Coco Before Chanel, a movie which sadly I have yet to watch but have high hopes for, it explains the story of Coco Chanel before and during her rise to the position of one of the most influential fashion designers to ever have lived.

Thats it for this post another to come soon.

Whats Next

With the attack of 3D and remakes, what is it all really coming to? In the horror department, which I almost dont feel like talking about thanks to all the remakes, seems to have gone through another cycle of zombie and slasher flicks, what now another line of creature features, forget I said that. And with action movies, assassins? Idk I just think we may have rough waters ahead. Now dont get me wrong I like both 3D and remakes but it seems we have less fresh/good material coming in then we did 5 years ago, and now with the business the way it is thanks to the economy who knows how long exactly until we are back in full swing, from what I hear L.A will be back probably by pilot season and Texas, well six months after L.A. And that may not seem to bad but I and my friends are all trying to work, both here in Texas and L.A and theres really nothing, since The Fields I haven't had any large auditions, dont get me wrong im getting to act but its usually non pay projects with friends. But honestly im just a bit stressed, as im sure everyone in the texas market is. On a more positive note im going to start up very soon a weekly Texas fashion blog with pictures of those who stand out fashion wise, also a bi weekly or however often I feel like doing it, a Art that inspires Art post with a large variety of art forms, photography to movies and so. So lots to look forward to, if you like blog follow or atleast comeback once in a while and let me know what you think...

The last few days.........

Have been pretty crazed, helped my friend Eddy dog/ condo sit, had a good time got to get a few ideas down for future projects. Also yesterday my friends at the art institute and I finished our 'No Phone Zone" Psa finished, aswell as a few new projects to come from other people I met at the institute.

Watched New York I Love You today, what a absolutely amazing film, with love as a undiscrimnated idea, it honestly beats its predecessor je taime paris which I was a huge fan of. Along side interviews with Wes Craven which both together just cause a rediscovery of the love for your craft/art. Soon I hope to do a daily Inspiration blog, with art, music, dance, and anything else which inspires art in the onlooker.

Lots Going On

Just got home from class, dam internet connection kept us from having a normal 5 hour class loll. But yes lots of happening, tomorrow night im hosting Exposure which is showcase of talent  from the DFW area, then going to stay with my friend Eddie where hopefully some music, and possibly some scripts will get finished, after talking with him today I know a hundred percent that we will be making Cigarettes Saved My Life, which I wrote and possible much more, will keep posted. Also the Texas scene though slow is coming back, currently we have two series shooting in texas and ive heard rumor of possible multi Coen brothers movies, as well as a few other high budgets I have heard rumor of. Which is absolutely amazing to here, after the economic drop our business like every other suffered horribly, but it is thankfully coming back, maybe by next pilot season it will be back to 100% maybe... . Also speak of my move to L.A is forming but also something to see how it goes. For today another trip to the fair with friends, then hopefully some script work and brain storming. More to come....

The Morning, well Evening after Friday the 13th

For those of you who dont follow film, yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of one of the horror giants, Friday the 13th. So for as a celebration a few friends and I had what shall be remembered as the 12 hour fright night from 7pm yesterday to 8 this morning we watched Ft13th part 1-7. As well as great cigars and scotch the night had a celebrity appearance of Lar Park Lincoln who stared in the 7th installment of the series. She is both a wonderful person and a wonderful actress. On another note I may have a few more projects to work on soon, as well as a new camera, more to come on that. Also I hope to start making video blogs for both this and my youtube channel. Oh yes in reference to yesterday as well, the p.s.a I mentioned I was leaving to finish in dallas, I found out is postponed till a later date. Found a neat youtube channel make sure to check it out, alot of funny rants, ect. On a ending note if you have the time and money and haven't seen Inception yet do it.

Morning

When I woke up this morning I awoke from a dream of someone calling me and for the most part just talking shit, threats, saying I stole from them all this and that. I think my subconscious is threatening me over something. Ehh on another subject I get to go into dallas today and finish a p.s.a im doing with a few art institute students. I wont lie their techniques work very well, shooting on a Canon 7d which after seeing the quality last week, have decided to buy one myself. But yes very exciting, also its Friday The 13th, for those of you enjoy a good horror flick, today is the day to watch one, a friend of mine is putting on a movie marathon of every Friday The 13th tonight so that gives me something interesting to do, oh btw the person, CASEY who is holding the marathon, also is a film maker and if im not mistaken we have a film were doing sometime in the next month or so regarding scarecrows or something, hmmm... something to look forward to. Well my yahoo answers account which I made yesterday was banned yesterday, seems they think im am posting in proper material another thing to wait and see on......

So how do I get started in this acting business thing???????

In all honesty coming into the "Business", as it shall be referred to as from here on, with no previouse knowledge can be a both very expensive and very stressful experience which I have seen drive many people completely away from the Business. What between the scams and the information holding helpers it really is difficult to catch a break when you first get started. Hell I remember when I first  decided to try the film acting thing " I had done theatre since I was four" we found a local talent scout, which btw can be very tricky always research in length anyone who claims to be a talent scout, also a agent (some one who represents talent, find auditions/work for talent) will never charge you unless you get paid, so if there is ever a said charge for representation it is more likely then not a scam, off topic, but when I started I was scammed out of a thousand dollars which were for so said head shots, after which the talent agent managed to disapeer. Still I ramble, perhaps a list would do me better
1. Research Your Area
see which Agents/Acting coaches/ your area has to offer and also what the agents generaly look for, and what styles/methods of acting are offered.
2. Classes
Firstly it gives something to put on your resume as well a starting the long process of learning what acting really is and how to do it, secondly if you did you research you know that some coaches have access to agents in some way or another which can be a huge help when its time to find representation.
3. Resume and Things Which Build Them
Putting a resume together can be a pain, a huge one trust me I understand at the bottom of this page I am posting a link to my headshots and resume as well as a few friends of mine just to give examples. But remember there is no award winning format for resumes you kind of have to look around your area see what the casting people like. Do anything you can to put things onto your resume, any theatre experience is welcome, mutiple teachers/coaches are good (school classes count to :). )Student films are great, some extra(background) work is good, just try and do what you can, later on you can be picky.
4. Headshots
After you have some experience and it written down you need to have these things made, some people have them made sooner, it really depends if your auditioning with people such as casting directors who will require it, if your not and dont need them then you can do home done ones untill this point  now it would be good to do a little more research and ask around about photographers that people are using in your area, theres no need to spend thoasands find a good price for your area and go with it, as long as their quality is good ( dugh :) ).
5. Representation
The next step really stands on the connections, experience, and knowledge you have gathered this far, but remember some people get to skip steps, hell I knew people who got signed with a agency or manager before they ever learned to act, most agents do not only send their talent out for acting but also modeling, vocal acting, ect. So some are signed for looks, some for presence, honestly their is so many variables that it hurts the head to try and name them all. But in this step you will need to submit to agency for a audition, or chance to show them that they want you.

*All said in this is what I went through, and what I have learned over my experience with this market, there are other ways to get started and this is in no way a sure fire way to become famouse, honestly this promises nothing this is simply a method of getting started which takes things slow and allows for users to learn as they go. Take it as you will its there :)

head shots are a bit old, http://www.lmtalent.com/index.php?pageID=2751&talentid=230&name=Drew%20Lowery&vo=2948&

What is this all about?

Well in short, or rather summary wise this is about acting, and all other arts that I have found to be extremely helpful and inspiring towards acting. So acting I suppose would have answered the question:), But also this will be a way for me to put down answers to many of the questions I tend to be asked atleast fairly often, more so from other actors my age then any others, but hopefully One question a day should suffice, as well as a personal update, a read and watch, and maybe something else for a bit more flavor who knows? But I of coarse am willing to take suggestions and questions so anything you would like just let me know.

Todays Read and Watch

Read- An Actor Prepares
Description- A wonderful breakdown of acting itself, written much like "Sanford Meisner On Acting" but more of a mental/ semi physical technique of coming into a scene and character. Written by the brilliant Stanislavski, one of the greatest teacher to live.

Watch- [Rec]2
Description- If you saw Quarantine last year then you saw, the english remake of [Rec]  except for a few basic story line and overall quality difference. This [Rec]2 is a different kind of horror flick, filmed like (diary of the dead "Yes Romero's films come first",CloverField, Paranormal Activity) Except with multiple cameras and its in spanish. Filled with possessed children, jump out horror, and story line to match, so if you don't mind subtitles then this film is worth picking up.

Thinking Back....

The picture I included was from a project I did with my friend Marco and his production company Happy Tree Films, anytime I see this, it makes me think back on the last..... three years "maybe four, my sense of time is horrid" is something which is somewhat difficult to do, in my defense, over the last three years, my life has somewhat been on a roller-coaster ride, not counting multiple enrollments I have been to at the least six different high schools, had three different agents,  seven acting teachers, two of which I still attend class for, and god only knows how many short films. I have been on national television, local, and online. I have been in a national awarded project "yes its a p.s.a but whose keeping track on specifics anymore" Lost two dogs, and met more people and saw more places then I thought was possible in that short of a time. All of which has formed me into what I am now.  Acting wise things were starting to get busy a year or so ago and then the market died :/, I went from, up to two auditions a week to maybe two a month, the first sign things were improving came during our last pilot season, 6-12 auditions, one week, and now things are almost back to where they were a year ago, so lets all keep our fingers crossed for the coming year, with midseason here and pilot honestly not that far away we have alot to prepare, and to look forward to....
